Eric White
New York–based Eric White (b. 1968) produces photorealistic rendered images whose proportionally distorted inhabitants evoke both surrealist paintings and Italian mannerism.
His medium is typically oil on canvas, and his skill with a brush can only be hinted at with the term “modern master.”
White constructs visual scenarios that appear to be set in the faded past of a vintage photograph, but through compositional arrangement and proportion, he lets the viewer know that very relevant issues of modern malaise may be lurking in these uncanny vignettes.

Cancer has had a great impact on White personally; his mother is a survivor of two bouts of aggressive oral cancer, and she has since made support for the cause a part of her daily life via a series of spoken-word performances on the subject.
Her will to overcome adversity has been a great inspiration for White and is linked to his contribution to STAGES.
